The Turnpike Convertible Cruiser was introduced late in 1957 and designed specifically to be the official Pace Car of the 1957 Indianapolis 500. With only 1265 Pace Car Convertible Cruisers made, each had the continental tire kit and each was painted “Sun Flitter Yellow” like the original Pace Car. With 3148 franchised dealers, Mercury only produced one for approximately every two and a half dealers. The car just finished a body-off restoration.
